ABOUT

AVID Engineering LLC was established in 1999 as a mechanical engineering consulting firm originally known as Quality Engineered Solutions Ltd (QES), focusing primarily on ventilation design for industrial processing and manufacturing facilities. In 2017, the company opened a new office in Colorado to better serve its clients, which coincided with a rebranding to AVID Engineering. Despite the change in name and additional location, the extensive experience and expertise cultivated over the years at QES remain foundational to the company's operations.

With the new branding, AVID Engineering expanded its service offerings. In addition to ventilation design, the firm now provides utilities and process piping design. This work is carried out by a skilled team with experience across various sectors, including Food and Beverage, Pulp and Paper, Oil and Gas, Manufacturing, Mining, and Pharmaceuticals.

AVID Engineering collaborates closely with design-build companies, architects, and contractors, offering mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and piping design services for both commercial and institutional projects. This expansion has become a crucial aspect of the company’s service portfolio.

Rick Allen, P.Eng, PE

Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Rick has been involved in industrial mechanical design for over 25 years and has managed projects throughout the world (6 continents). Although experienced in multiple mechanical formats, Rick has broad experience in Industrial Ventilation with extensive history in Industrial Food & Beverage projects. In addition to his responsibilities at AVID, Rick is also the CEO of Quality Engineered Solutions (QES) in Canada. Rick holds multiple Professional Engineering Licenses in both the USA and Canada.

Rick’s passions outside of work include snowboarding, sailing, and cycling.

Rob Burtt, P.Eng

Chief Operations Officer

As Chief Operating Officer, Rob is responsible for all facets of AVID's activities. Rob works with our team of professionals to take projects from the design concepts stage to the installation and the commissioning stage, while facilitating our clients need for a successful project completion. Rob has worked in the industrial process industry since 1989.

His career has spanned on-site inspection and testing, process equipment application and sales, manufacturing operations management, and agriculture.

Outside of work, Rob enjoys family time, fishing, sailing, and managing the family maple syrup operation.

Martin Zourek

Director of Engineering

Martin has over 20 years experience in HVAC, plumbing, and refrigeration design. He is an experienced project manager and commissioning agent. Martin’s resume boasts a broad inventory of projects in industrial food & beverage processing, dairy processing, as well as chemical & pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Martin’s commercial plumbing and HVAC experience includes condominiums, hotels, restaurants, hospitals, swimming pools, snowmelt applications, clinics, assisted living facilities and schools.

Martin enjoys reading, movies, traveling, time with his family, and WWII re-enactment

Mike Ritchie

Director of Business Development

Director of Business Development Mike has been in the customer service industry for over 30 years.  He has extensive experience in management, marketing, and sales Mike utilizes this knowledge in his role as Director of Business Development. He brings an ‘outside of the box’ way of thinking to the team and as such, is capable of brainstorming solutions in conjunction with the engineers to meet the needs of potential clients.

In his spare time, Mike enjoys hiking and camping with his wife.
